Why is my 97 Subaru Imprezza turning off/bucking?

if nothing else has been changed on it from what you said about it,id say it may need a fuel pump ,when one runs dry its real hard on them,hard enough to damage them,changing filters wont help it much either,i get a few once in a while that have been ran dry on gas,and i wind up changing a lot of pumps,dry running one will burn it up,if it was low enough it probably has picked up some of the junk from the bottom of the tank,and that will cause what its doing,also you need to have the computer scanned on it,this might tell you if a sensor has went out on it,with today's cars there's a lot of things that will cause that too happen,good luck.
