Can parental rights be reinstated?

My ex gave up her parental rights to our son right after he was born. It has been a year and we have not heard one word from her, she has never called or tried to contact me about him, but now she is threatening me that she will take me to court to regain her parental rights. Is this possible? Can her rights be reinstated even if I fight it?
